Abstract: Avian brood parasitism is a model system for understanding coevolutionary arms races, and the great reed warbler ( Acrocephalus arundinaceus , hereafter ‘warbler’) and its parasite the common cuckoo ( Cuculus canorus , hereafter ‘cuckoo’) are prime examples of this coevolutionary struggle.
