Efficient visible driven photocatalyst, silver phosphate: performance, understanding and perspective

Abstract: Photocatalysis is a promising technology that can contribute to renewable energy production from water and water purification. In order to further develop the field and meet industrial requirements, it is imperative to focus on advancing high efficiency visible light photocatalysts, such as silver phosphate (Ag3PO4). This review aims to highlight the recent progress made in the field, focusing on oxygen production from water, and organic contaminant decomposition using Ag3PO4. The most important advances are d… Show more

“…In AgBr-supported metal-free g-C 3 N 4 -decorated Nitrogendoped graphene (CN) ternary nanocomposites (ACNNG-x), Z-scheme heterogeneous structure consisting of AgBr and CN with different energy level has been proved to be an effective 2 Deposition Photodegradation of organic pollutants [292] rule to photocatalytic degradation of MO and CO 2 photoreduction under visible light [299][300][301][302][303][304][305]. Two charge carriers separation mechanisms were involved in this system before and after the generation of metallic Ag 0 nanoparticles.…”

“…After Ag NPs immersed into Co-2TPABTz, there is no distinct change in the Co-2TPABTz diffraction pattern, and all the major peaks belonged to Ag NPs are clearly identified [42]. No Ag 2 O diffraction peaks are observed for composites 1-3, because Ag NPs is absolutely coated with the help of Co-2TPABTz [43]. However, the Ag core has undergone partially oxidation since the content of Ag NPs is over 15 wt%.…”

“…This HR-TEM (Fig. 1c) presents the loaded Ag QDs (111) planes that have an inherent spacing distance of 0.237 nm [43]. And the d-spacing of 0.386 nm was assigned to the (021) facet of Co2TPABTz in the same image [49].…”

“…However, Ag 3 PO 4 can be easily reduced to Ag under the visible light irradiation [3], which causes low reusability and stability. What's more, the wide application of Ag 3 PO 4 is restricted by the inherent drawbacks, including the high recombination rate of photo-generated charges, the weak stability in photocatalysis process as well as the high cost of Ag-containing chemicals [4]. In addition, the Ag 3 PO 4 nanoparticles can readily aggregate into micrometer-sized particles in aqueous solutions according to the literature [5].…”
