Efficient transmission of periodic data that follows a consistent daily pattern

Abstract: Performance management is an essential part of network management. Part of the performance management application is the task of monitoring network resources and periodically transmitting the performance statistics from all the managed nodes in the network to the operation and management center. As networks increase in size and complexity and provide a richer set of services, network operators demand more performance statistics to help them manage their networks. These demands in return increase the burden of … Show more

“…Data that is periodic and follows a consistent pattern, however, exists in other environments such as highway traffic monitoring systems, geological monitoring systems and field service personnel transmitting their data to a central location. A preliminary result of this work can be found by Albaghdadi and Razvi (2005).…”

“…These effects on network dependability were found to be significant impact. Albaghdadi and Razvi [8] studied 1320 cell GSM network. Their aim was to find an effective method for periodic transmission of network management information.…”
