Efficient techniques for adaptive hypermedia

Abstract: Adaptive hypermedia is a new direction of research within the area of adaptive and user model-based interfaces. Adaptive hypermedia (AH) systems build a model of the individual user and apply it for adaptation to that user, for example, to adapt the content of a hypermedia page to the user's knowledge and goals, or to suggest the most relevant links to follow. AH systems are used now in several application areas where the hyperspace is reasonably large and where a hypermedia application is expected to be used … Show more

“…This implies that in order to create a naturalistic dialogue flow and avoid information overloads, both the amount of information presented and the number of navigation options in audio interfaces have to be restricted. This adaptation can be made by applying methods and techniques of adaptive hypermedia (Brusilovsky, 1997) (De Bra, et al, 1999) to voice dialogues. In our case, we make use of the conditional inclusion of fragments to reduce the amount of information included in the spoken interface and of link removal to restrict the number of navigation options available in voice dialogues.…”

“…Dentro del marco de esta investigación se entiende por adaptatividad la capacidad de adaptar un contenido de acuerdo con el nivel de conocimiento de los estudiantes, el objetivo con que se pretende enseñar, los intereses y sus estilos de aprendizaje (Brusilovsky, 1997). Del mismo modo, se ofrecen aproximaciones teóricas que existen y fueron tomadas en cuenta, como son hipermedia adaptativa, modelo de usuario adaptativo y juegos adaptativos.…”

“…Instead, each learner can be modeled by the system and learning is made to fit the needs of each one. VLC interfaces can also be constructed to be adaptive (Brusilovski 1997(Brusilovski , 2001, as structures based on personalized interfaces, dynamically constructed from the user models.…”
