Efficient slice‐aware H.264/AVC video transmission over time‐driven priority networks

Abstract: SUMMARY This paper proposes a multimedia streaming architecture that combines network and video technologies to handle video traffic over multi‐hop access networks. In this context, resource overprovision typical of current quality of service approaches will become a limiting factor because of the increasing spread of bandwidth‐intensive multimedia applications. The proposed scheme adopts a time‐driven priority scheduling at network nodes and exploits slice classification at the video encoder to differentiate … Show more

“…The concealment methods used in the 2D video system to deal with transmission corruptions may be exploited with some adjustments to compensate for the lost 3DV frames. These concealment methods are predicted to be further beneficial for concealing the transmission errors in the 3D video system, because they benefit from the inter‐view matching between various 3D video views.…”

“…For delay constraints of video transmission applications [3,4,6], the FEC is a better choice than ARQ as it has lower end-to-end delay. Several researchers proposed the UEP solutions to ensure quality of service (QoS) for video streaming on the lossy channels [9][10][11]. The first UEP codes were proposed by Masnick and Wolf [8].…”
