Efficient removal of hexavalent chromium and lead from aqueous solutions by s‐triazine containing nanoporous polyamide

Abstract: s‐Triazine containing dicarboxylic acid was synthesized. Then, it was reacted with 1,3‐phenylenediamine in molten tetrabutylammonium bromide to formed soluble aromatic polyamide with good yield and moderate inherent viscosity of 0.35 dL g−1. The solubility and flexibility of polyamides are low. So, we used ether group such as di(4‐aminephenyl) ether in building polyamide. The structure of monomer and polymer was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and proton nuclear magnet… Show more

“…These materials have been also frequently designed as composite by incorporation of silica [40], clays [41,42], carbon [43] or biomass [44] to (a) improve specific surface area, (b) change hydrophilic/hydrophobic characteristics and (c) enhance sorption performance. The functionalization of polyamide-based materials has been also used for improving metal sorption [45][46][47][48].…”

“…To date, rare instances of PA6/nanocomposite and its derivatives were reported either by in situ or bulk polymerization. For example, Picken et al fabricated PA6‐boehmite nanocomposites by in situ polymerization without any surface modification of boehmite nanoparticles. In similar research Picken et al synthesized PA6‐bohemite nanocomposites with surface modification with titanate.…”

“…14 Moreover, s -triazine containing nanoporous polyamide was also designed for effectual separation of Cr 6+ and Pb 2+ ions. 15 In addition to this, a novel polyamide ligand (Schiff base) and its nanostructured copper( ii ) complex were explored for comparative uptake of Pb 2+ ions from aqueous solutions. 16 Nevertheless, the target of total elimination of lead from water bodies remains a critical challenge and there is a requisite to customize these existing techniques or develop more promising alternatives for facile and rapid uptake of metal by employing an efficient, economical and more sustainable sorbent.…”
