Efficient Motion and Disparity Estimation Optimization for Low Complexity Multiview Video Coding

Abstract: The use of variable block-size motion estimation (ME), disparity estimation (DE), and multiple reference frames selection aims to improve the coding efficiency of multiview video coding (MVC), however, this is at the cost of high computational complexity of these advanced coding techniques, which are not suitable for real-time video broadcasting applications. In this paper, we propose an efficient ME and DE algorithm for reducing the computational complexity of MVC. Firstly, according to the characteristics of… Show more

“…This indicates that, when training the DDAE model, the classical gradient-based algorithm is easy to be trapped in local optima, while the EAs evolve populations of solutions to simultaneously explore multiple regions in the solution space with the help of information exchange among the solutions, and thus are much more capable of jumping out of local optima [56][57][58][59][60]. Although the EAs require longer training time than the gradient-based algorithm, the computational cost (less than 5 min on the dataset of 200 tuples in our experiments) is worth paying for the much higher prediction accuracy.…”

“…Unlike traditional WSNs, the WMSN contains multimedia content which adversely affect the routing performance, i.e. when a node is continually sensing, routes having sensor nodes of high residual energy will be considered [14]. Fuzzy based power saving approach is considered in [15], which consider switching off APs when traffic load is low.…”
