Efficient mining of intertransaction association rules

Abstract: Most of the previous studies on mining association rules are on mining intratransaction associations, i.e., the associations among items within the same transaction where the notion of the transaction could be the items bought by the same customer, the events happened on the same day, etc. In this study, we break the barrier of transactions and extend the scope of mining association rules from traditional single-dimensional, intratransaction associations to multidimensional, intertransaction associations. An i… Show more

“…In order to find intertranaction association rules (see Section 3.1), we employ the FITI algorithm [12]. The FITI algorithm for mining intertransaction rules is based on the property that a large intertransaction itemsets must be made up of large intratransaction itemsets.…”

“…The concept and definition of inter-transaction association rules are first introduced in [4] by Tung et al A frequent pattern in inter-transaction association rule is similar to a periodic pattern, but without the constraint on the contiguous and disjoint matches. To distinguish the frequent patterns in inter-transaction association rules from the frequent patterns in intra-transaction association rules, we use the term "frequent continuities" for the frequent patterns in intertransaction association rules.…”
