Crystalline beta zeolite molecular sieve with SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 molar ratio of 28.5 was synthesized by the hydrothermal crystallization method and examined for methanol dehydration reaction. The micro-mesoporous beta zeolite was active between 280 and 450°C. Dimethyl ether (DME) was observed as the predominant product at all reaction temperatures, with a maximum selectivity of 47.9% at 300°C and a methanol turnover frequency (TOF MeOH ) of 741.9 h −1 . At increased reaction temperatures, beta zeolite showed enhanced strong acid site fraction, promoting higher hydrocarbon formation following the olefin-based cycle. It was revealed that the crystallinity, porosity and acidity of beta zeolite change in the reaction environment. Amorphous carbon deposition occurred on beta zeolite, which involved a loss in crystallinity to some extent. The temperature increase showed a pore-broadening phenomenon at elevated temperature regions. Regeneration cycle testing demonstrated beta zeolite activity maintained stable throughout a 280 h time-on-stream period.

The aim of this study was to use different proportions (1% to 20% by weight) of γ‐alumina to modify sugarcane bagasse ash (SCBA) for the production of dimethyl ether (DME) through the dehydration of methyl alcohol. A simple precipitation method was utilized to fabricate (1–20 wt.%) Al2O3/SCBA catalysts. X‐ray fluorescence, X‐ray diffraction, Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and N2 sorption were used to explore the structural, spectroscopic, morphological, and textural features. The XRD pattern of Al2O3/SCBA catalysts showed a new peak that corresponded to the formation of γ‐Al2O3. In addition, the average crystallite sizes of pure SCBA and 10% and 20%Al2O3/SCBA catalysts were calculated and found to be 20.1, 21.6, and 22.6 nm, respectively. To evaluate the acidity of these catalysts, the dehydration of isopropyl alcohol and the chemisorption of basic probe molecules were employed. The acidity test results displayed that these catalysts have weak to moderate acidic sites. The 10% Al2O3/SCBA catalyst calcined at 400°C showed high efficiency for the conversion of methyl alcohol to DME, attaining 89% conversion with 100% selectivity. This observation can be attributed to the even distribution of active sites and the acid–base equilibrium on the surface. Moreover, its catalytic activity and selectivity remain unchanged over a continuous 2‐week operation without coke formation, demonstrating its extremely high stability. A strong correlation was observed between the catalytic activity and both the surface area and acidity of the catalysts.

One-dimensional (1D) zirconium dioxide nanofibers (ZrO 2 NFs), as an important inorganic material, have attracted significant attention because of their unique structural characteristics, outstanding chemical/thermal stability, and excellent optical/electronic properties. The biotemplate method, phase inversion method, centrifugal spinning, and electrospinning are facile and highly versatile approaches for the synthesis of ZrO 2 NFs, which have great potential in many emerging applications, such as thermal insulation, air filtration, water purification, catalyst supports, dye-sensitized solar batteries, and lithium-ion batteries. In this review, strategies for synthesizing ZrO 2 NFs with various structures, such as porous, hollow, layered, and even 3D selfassembled structures, are described and analyzed in detail. Recent revolutionary progress in mitigating the brittle nature of ceramics and constructing flexible ZrO 2 NFs, as well as their deformation mechanisms, is also discussed. Then, achievements concerning the application fields of ZrO 2 NFs in thermal insulation, environmental remediation, catalysis, and batteries are presented. Finally, we provide a comprehensive summary of the critical challenges and future perspectives on ZrO 2 NFs. This review is envisioned to guide future research on novel ZrO 2 NFs for emerging applications.
