Efficient list‐sphere detection scheme for joint iterative multiple‐input multiple‐output detection

Abstract: List-sphere detection (LSD) is a sub-optimal multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) detection scheme which searches candidate symbol vectors that lie within a sphere of a given radius. This study presents an efficient LSD based method for a joint iterative MIMO detection scheme. The proposed method utilises a channel condition in order to define the list size. During the search process, the radius is adaptively updated to reduce the computational complexity. Owing to the list size and corresponding radius are a… Show more

“…The LSD is the method which is based on SD algorithm. In LSD, the search is not limited for one best solution which is the case in SD method, the LSD builds a list of Nc best solutions by searching through the space of radius r. The candidates whose radius falls inside r whose are used to build a subset list LSD L   of size Nc [6]. Even the list is full, LSD method continues its search for better candidates until it reaches the end of the search space.…”

“…Previous research has employed reduced search MAP methods and equalization method for SISO detectors. The sphere decoding and tree search-based methods have been very promising approaches for JIDD systems [4]- [6]. These approaches target to reduce the MAP search space by finding the likely candidates.…”

“…MU‐MIMO algorithms are developed to enhance MIMO systems when there are multiple users within the same frequency band. Iterative multiuser detection, which is also known as turbo multiuser detection , and which is based on the turbo principle , has attracted much attention in recent studies. The channel decoder and multiuser detector iterate soft information to cancel multiple‐access interference.…”

“…Research has been focused on developing efficient soft MIMO detection schemes with less complex (sub‐optimal) algorithms. Examples of these are the list based detection schemes [2–5]. The lattice reduction (LR)‐aided scheme can be employed in order to build a list of candidates [6, 7].…”
