Efficient and Lightweight File System for Desktop Grids

Abstract

We describe the design of a remote file system for use in desktop grid applications. The file system provides query/update access to unmodified programs on UNIX/Linux. Salient feature of the file-system is its ability to profile programs to generate program-specific optimizations for sequential reads/writes.
