The purpose of this article is to analysis the factors affecting the effectiveness of the education system in Ukraine. The article substantiates the need to determine the main criteria and tools for assessing quality for subsequent decision-making at the level of educational institutions, educational management, and added value. Results from DEAP Version 2.1 of technical efficiency contain information on CRS, VRS, and SEa models grouped by 24 regions of Ukraine. A set of control variables determined their impact on the effectiveness of the higher education system in Ukraine. Practical application of Data envelopment analysis (DEA) methods and regression analysis, graphical analysis, made it possible to form an idea of qualitative and quantitative indicators that affect the efficiency of the education system in Ukraine.

Does More Investment in Universities Improve Their Performances?

Universities play a critical role in improving the economic prosperity and social well-being of a country. Many countries have invested heavily in higher education and funding university education for their citizens. Does more investment enhance universities' performances? What other factors contribute to universities' productivity? This research used the data envelopment analysis methodology to study the total factor productivity (TFP) of 60 Chinese universities from 2006 to 2016. The study found the values of TFP fluctuated between 0.950 and 1.050 and were relatively stable. Contrary to common belief about productivity improvements, universities with more investment from the Chinese government did not show better performances. Nevertheless, the study found evidence that human resources (e.g., postgraduate-teacher ratio), physical resources (e.g., campus areas), and policy factors (e.g., tenure of the presidents, mergers) have a positive impact on universities' productivity.

Finance is the strategic intent to boost the development and growth of all industries. Presently, Indian higher education has attained an impressive growth rate, and finance is playing a vital role in its continuous development and attaining a competitive edge. Therefore, the present study aims to analyze the financial performance of the Indian public universities located within Punjab. The data of universities' financial performance between 2003 and 2019 were taken into consideration. The Welch and post-hoc tests were employed to answer the research questions. The study found no significant difference in the income level of the universities but the results confirmed a significant difference in expenditure level. The findings of the study may draw the attention of academicians, and policymakers to build a balance between income and expenditure.
