Efficiency Optimization of Three Phase Induction Motor by Slip Compensation: A Review

Abstract: Induction motor is a high efficiency electrical machine when working closed to its rated torque and speed. However, at light loads, there is no balance between copper and iron losses, which results in considerable reduction of efficiency for induction motor drive. The part load efficiency and power factor can be improved by making the motor excitation adjustment in accordance with load and speed. In this paper, an efficiency optimization controller of induction motor drive system, based on searching the value … Show more

“…Optimization is essential in any area of engineering. 13 It has been applied to produce quality products or services at competitive prices. In general, optimization represents the process of finding the “best solution” to a problem among a very large set of possible solutions, with respect to a selected criteria.…”

“…In [37] a controller is developed to optimize the efficiency of an induction motor, based on the search of a stator voltage that would maximize the specified parameter, namely efficien cy. To reduce the slip parameter at low load on the motor shaft and at low operating frequencies, a slip compensator is intro duced.…”

“…Since it was first discovered, induction motors have become a major part of the industry. That is because the induction motor has strong construction, is cheap in purchasing and maintenance, high efficiency at rated speed and torque, and easy to operate [1][2][3]. The motor is operated in a humid, dirty, hot environment, etc., which can effect breakdown to parts of the motor.…”
