Engineering human-centric urban transport systems should be carried out using information technology in forecasting traffic and passenger flows. One of the most important objects of urban transport systems’ progress is modeling patterns of transport flows and their distribution on the road network. These patterns are determined by the subjective choice of city residents of traffic routes using public and private transport. This study aimed to form a sequence of stages of modeling transport and passenger flows in human-centric urban transport systems and passenger flows in the human-centric urban intelligent transport systems and to determine the patterns of change to the gravity function of employees of municipal services. It was revealed that the trip distribution function of workers of urban service enterprises can be described by the attributes of the structure of the city, socio-economic data, and attributes characterizing the zones and its residents.

Objective: The objective of the study was to analyze projections that impact sustainable urban mobility for the year 2030 in small and medium-sized cities that use the bus as the main modal. Theoretical framework: The research brings perspectives to make urban mobility in small and medium-sized Brazilian cities more sustainable. Method: The Survey method was used; data collection through a questionnaire applied to public transport specialists in Brazil. In the data analysis, the calculation of the degree of agreement of the answers was used for 13 projections, in three aspects: probability of occurrence, business impact and the desire to occur. The averages of each category were also taken, plotted on a graph with X axis (probability of occurrence) and Y axis (impact on the transport sector). Results and conclusion: The results point to an increase in the use of semi-public transport, tariff changes and greater integration between the bus and more sustainable modes such as walking and cycling. For sustainable mobility, a greater interest in sustainability, investment in infrastructure, dedicated corridors and lanes, integration between modes, use of renewable energy and implementation of subsidy can be the key to environmental solutions. Research implications: The research contributed theoretically to the literature review and managerial and political questionnaire indicating the priority points for public and private investments. Originality/value: The research points out investment points to make urban mobility more sustainable and at the same time profitable for transport companies.

The performance of this study involves the use of the zoning method based on the principle of the hierarchical relationship between probabilities. This paper proposes an analytical model allowing for the design of information and analysis platforms in intelligent transport systems. The proposed model uses a synthesis of methods for managing complex systems’ structural dynamics and solves the problem of achieving the optimal balance between the information situations existing for the object and the subject under analysis. A series of principles are formulated that govern the mathematical modeling of information and analysis platforms. Specifically, these include the use of an object-oriented approach to forming the information space of possible decisions and the division into levels and subsystems based on the principles of technology homogeneity and information state heterogeneity. Using the proposed approach, an information and analysis platform is developed for sustainable transportation system management, that allows for the objective, multivariate forecasting-based record of changes in the system’s variables over time for a particular process, and where decision-making simulation models can be adjusted in relation to a particular process based on an information situation existing for a particular process within a complex transport system. The study demonstrates a mathematical model that solves the optimal balance problem in organizationally and technically complex management systems and is based on vector optimization techniques for the most optimal decision-making management. The analysis involves classical mathematical functions with an unlimited number of variables including traffic volume, cargo turnover, safety status, environmental performance, and related variables associated with the movement of objects within a transport network. The study has produced a routing protocol prescribing the optimal vehicle trajectories within an organizationally and technically complex system exposed to a substantial number of external factors of uncertain nature.
