Efficacy of visual laser ablation of the prostate (VLAP) in patients with BPH

Abstract: From November 1992 to the present, 50 patients, most of whom suffering from severe cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological or hemocoagulative disorders, underwent laser prostatic ablation (VLAP) with Nd:YAG laser. Clinical and uroflowmetric follow-up at 6 weeks, 3 and 6 months showed significant improvement with low morbidity. We believe that VLAP is an alternative to TURP in patients with BPH.
