“…16 The response of renal function improvement was considered as cure when serum creatinine level decreased to ≤1.4 mg/dL after the procedure. 17 A decrease in the serum creatinine level of 20% or more was considered an improved. Deterioration was defined as an increase of ≥20% in the serum creatinine level after procedure.…”

“…Primary patency was defined as a PSV <2.2 m/s on duplex ultrasonography scan without any further intervention. 17 The procedure complications could include vessel perforation, clinically detectable lower extremity or visceral embolization (blue toe syndrome), pseudoaneurysms, arteriovenous fistulas, and hematomas of the femoral puncture during the hospital admission for the procedure.…”

“…trial randomized participants to abciximab or placebo and demonstrated some benefit in the antiplatelet therapy 7 . This is important because analysis of particles demonstrates not just cholesterol crystals, but fibrin, thrombi and platelets as well 14,15 . In one study, patients receiving aspirin had lower captured particle counts 16 .…”

“…In one study, patients receiving aspirin had lower captured particle counts 16 . Antiplatelet therapy was not routinely reported in the uncontrolled studies, although more recent studies included clopidogrel, aspirin or a combination in their protocols 14,17,18 . In the Cardiovascular Outcomes with Renal Atherosclerotic Lesions (CORAL) study, all participants undergoing angioplasty will receive aspirin indefinitely and clopidogrel for 4 weeks 19 .…”
