“…[ 21 ] However, it has been reported that antifungal drugs have some toxic effects on the patient if it is overused; hence, the plant extracts neem ( A. indica ) and garlic ( A. sativum ) which are naturally available and also possess antifungal property can be used for the same. [ 4 14 22 23 24 25 26 27 ] This leads to the microbiological investigation conducted in this study, which confirms that the released concentrations of the antifungal agents (plant extracts) from the soft lining materials were able to induce an antifungal effect against C. albicans on agar culture. Furthermore, the changes in any hardness of the denture base after the incorporation of the plant extracts were analyzed.…”

“…[ 9 ] Neem ( Azadirachta indica ) is found to have antifungal effect and antimicrobial effect. [ 10 11 12 ] Garlic is another indigenous to Asian region and utilized as a topping, particularly in a large portion of the Asian cooking[ 13 ] since it acts as an antioxidant[ 14 ] (antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and antiprotozoal properties) and also have beneficial properties on the cardiovascular and immune systems. [ 15 16 ] However, only few or no studies have been reported on the use of neem and garlic as an adjunct for the use of treating denture-induced stomatitis.…”

“…The findings in this study also matched those observed in the study by Pai et al (2010) where an aqueous extract of A. muricata was reported to be highly effective against Candida species; it is also noteworthy that both aqueous and CSL extracts of A. muricata showed better activity against C. kefyr (Strain A) than all the conventional antibiotics. The minimal antifungal activity of A. indica extracts observed in this study mirrors those reported by Mahmoud et al (2011) where little activity was found against C. albicans, though, in another study, tissue conditional mixed with A. indica extracts at two concentrations was reported to exhibit considerable potential effectiveness against C. albicans (Barua et al, 2017). The MIC values revealed that the aqueous and CSL leave extracts of the F. exasperata inhibited the growth of four of the tested pathogens within range of 6.25-12.5 mg/mL.…”

“…Due to regular ingestion and persistent salivary washout, the antifungal drugs are less likely to adhere with the oral mucosa [39]. To overcome these issues, a lot of of research has investigated the efficacy of TCs modified by the addition of various antifungal medicaments, such as nystatin [29,38,[40][41][42][43][44][45][46][47], derivatives of the azole group [38,[43][44][45][46][47], and chlorhexidine [45][46][47][48].…”
