Aim to study the prevalence of allergic diseases (AD), excess body weight and obesity in school children and to analyze the correlations between the AD diagnosis and body weight. Material and methods. During the single-stage observational study, 1503 children aged from 7 to 14 years received medical checkup. In all children, we measured anthropometric data, calculated body mass index and standard sigma deviation with the following assessment. The information about the presence of AD was obtained from the primary medical documentation of schoolchildren. Then, we conducted a telephone survey of the parents of the examined children to clarify the data on the presence of allergopathology in them. Results. The prevalence of excess body weight in school-children was 20.9%, obesity 13.5%. The prevalence of atopic dermatitis (AtD) according to the medical record was 6.72%, allergic rhinitis (AR) 6.65%, bronchial asthma (BA) 1.86%. The statistical analysis of mentioned diseases revealed no correlation between the increased body weight and the prevalence of AD both in the general cohort of children, and when stratified by age and gender. The comparative analysis of the telephone survey data on the prevalence of allergopathology in overweight and obese children provided statistically significant results: with the weight gain, the prevalence of the studied allergic diseases was increasing. Conclusion. The results of the study did not reveal a statistically significant positive association between excess body weight, obesity and the presence of AD in the children of the examined group. However, the differences in the prevalence of allergopathology in schoolchildren according to primary medical documentation and the results of a telephone survey of parents indicate the need for a deeper study of the problem and an epidemiological study of the true prevalence of AD in children, followed by an analysis of the association between these conditions.

Obesity is a global problem in pediatrics. Scientific interest in the study of this disease in childhood and adolescence is due to a number of factors: a steady increase in the number of patients in most countries of the world, unfavorable long-term consequences and complications, its progression into adulthood. These circumstances dictate the need for health professionals to search for new methods of treatment and prevention. The basis of treatment is a comprehensive approach, including normocaloric diet, increased physical activity, behavioral therapy and psychological support. However, these methods are often ineffective. In recent years, medications, particularly glucagon-like peptide-1 agonists (the drug liraglutide), have been approved for effective weight loss. However, there is some clinical stagnation on the part of the medical community regarding its prescription due to the lack of clear criteria determining the validity and increasing the effectiveness of treatment. On the basis of clinical observations, to propose criteria determining the possibility of prescribing a domestic analog of liraglutide (enligria) to improve the effectiveness of treatment of obesity in adolescent children. Four clinical cases demonstrated the high efficacy of liraglutide with respect to leveling cardiometabolic risks regardless of the degree of obesity and increasing adherence to lifestyle modification principles in patients with a metabolically “healthy” obesity phenotype. Also, its use was associated with facilitating the management of different types of eating disorders. Additional criteria determining the validity of liraglutide prescription in the therapy of obesity in adolescent children were proposed. It will contribute to a wider introduction of this drug into practical healthcare.

Purpose: Assessment of the prevalence of overweight and obesity among school-age children in Samara. Material and methods. Medical checkup of 1503 schoolchildren aged from 7 to 14 years old was performed. The authors assessed anthropometric indicators, calculated body mass index, and standard deviation score. Diagnosis of overweight or obesity was based on the analysis of the indicators according to the criteria of the World Health Organization. Results. The prevalence of overweight among schoolchildren in Samara made up 20.9% and obesity was observed in 13.5%. The prevalence of obesity among boys was significantly higher than in girls (63.58% vs 39.48%, respectively). The peak debut of obesity occurs at an early school age. In the study group, obesity of 1st degree was most common (67.2% of obese children). A comparison of the obtained data with previous studies revealed that the prevalence of obesity increased dramatically over the past fifteen years (from 3.6% to 13.5%). The prevalence of overweight has also increased from 10.6% to 20.9%. Conclusion. Considering the increasing prevalence of overweight and obesity among school-age children, this problem should remain one of the priorities for the Samara region.
