“…This study looked specifically at fesoterodine, but the results may be generalizable to other anticholinergic and antimuscarinic medications (7). While BRIDGES examined the impact of the antimuscarinic therapy fesoterodine on women with UUI, antimuscarinic medication has been shown to reduce nighttime voiding as well as improves sleep quality in patients with nocturia (18). …”

“…Although nocturnal micturitions/ 24 h improved in the two fesoterodine groups versus placebo, these treatment differences were not statistically significant. The most common adverse events were dry mouth (fesoterodine 4 mg, 28%; fesoterodine 8 mg, 50%; placebo, 9%) and constipation (fesoterodine 4 mg, 5%; fesoterodine 8 mg, 11%; placebo, 4%), with most mild or moderate and incidence rates higher with fesoterodine 8 mg than with fesoterodine 4 mg. Interestingly, a posthoc analysis of data from 555 patients with !1 nocturnal micturition/24 h at baseline demonstrated that nocturnal micturitions/24 h were significantly improved with fesoterodine 8 mg versus placebo at week 12 in patients without nocturnal polyuria (i.e., nocturnal polyuria index 33%) 66 .…”

“…Patients with nocturia/nocturnal urgency Nocturia, based on the ICS definition of !1 micturition/ night 1,2 , is a common age-related condition, with population-based prevalence estimates of 24% to 49% in men and 30% to 55% in women aged !18 years 87,88 , and prevalence increasing with age [88][89][90] and body mass index 66 . Significant nocturia-related bother and impaired HRQL are reported by individuals with !2 micturitions/ night 35,36 .…”
