Efficacy of bimatoprost 0.03% in reducing intraocular pressure in patients with 360° synechial angle-closure glaucoma: A preliminary study

Abstract: Context:Peripheral anterior synechiae (PAS; synechiae anterior to functional trabecular meshwork) formation in primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) hampers access to uveoscleral outflow. Thus, the role of bimatoprost in such patients with 360° synechiae was evaluated.Aims:To assess efficacy and safety profile of bimatoprost 0.03% in lowering intraocular pressure (IOP) in 360° synechial angle-closure glaucoma patients.Settings and Design:This was a prospective, non-randomized, non-comparative, selective analys… Show more

“…IOP is especially important for treating glaucoma. Although intraocular hypertension is not a requirement, it is still a significant risk factor in the development of glaucoma treatment ( 7 , 8 ). Lowering the IOP level is also the only effective treatment means to control the development of glaucoma in clinical practices.…”

“…with great interest and applaud them for their lucid presentation. [ 1 ] There are precious few studies on the efficacy of prostaglandin analogues, especially in angle-closure glaucoma. We take this opportunity to put forth our observations on the subject based on our experiences with patients suffering from similar conditions.…”
