Efficacy and Safety of the 64Cu(II)Cl2 PET/CT for Urological Malignancies

Abstract: Purpose of the Report The aim of this study was to evaluate safety and efficacy of copper-64(II)dichloride (64Cu(II)Cl2) as a new PET tracer for urological malignancies (UMs). Methods Patients with UM were enrolled in a prospective study. All patients were staged with preoperative CT and 64Cu(II)Cl2 PET/CT. Patient characteristics, anatomical and functional imaging, and final histopathology were recorded. Surgical specimens for histopathological examina… Show more

“…5-9 64 CuCl 2 PET/CT imaging is under evaluation for imaging various oncological conditions including carcinoma prostate. [10][11][12] In our case, there was agreement of both PET/CT studies in identifying the focal lesion in the shaft of the penis, detecting a rare soft tissue metastasis from carcinoma prostate and changing the staging of the patient.…”

“…Therefore, targeting the Cu requirement of cancer cells is considered a promising avenue for the development of anticancer drugs. Several studies have been conducted to investigate the potential of 64 Cu 2+ ions as antitumor radiotherapeutic drugs [9][10][11][12][13]. 64 Cu is a useful radionuclide for theranostic purposes.…”
