Efficacy and safety of single port robotic radical prostatectomy and multiport robotic radical prostatectomy: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Abstract: Background: The purpose of this study is to compare the clinical efficacy and safety of single port (SP) robot radical prostatectomy and multiport (MP) robot radical prostatectomy. Methods: Using the China National Knowledge database, EMBASE, Cochrane library, PubMed, and other databases to obtain relevant research, SP robot radical prostatectomy and MP robot radical prostatectomy were comprehensively evaluated. The software used to evaluate the impact of the results in the selected articles was Review Manager … Show more

“…reported that the Xi system had apparently better perioperative outcomes, compared with the Si system 44 , we considered them essentially equivalent as multiport surgical systems. Despite these limitations, this study represents the most comprehensive meta-analysis of this subject with a larger robotic prostatectomy population than previously published meta-analyses 45 , 46 . Furthermore, we showed more analysis results regarding functional outcomes including three-month continence, six-month continence, and three-month potency rates.…”

“…We read with great interest the published paper by Wei and colleagues (1) in the Translational Andrology and Urology. They performed a systematic review of 7 studies to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of single-port (SP) versus multi-port (MP) robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy.…”

“…There was another potential concern about the systematic review. Wei et al (1) claimed that the seven studies included were all randomized controlled trials, but a closer reading of the original text revealed that most of the studies were retrospectively designed (2)(3)(4)(5). Therefore, it appears inappropriate to use the Cochrane risk of bias tool to assess the methodological quality of the included publications.…”

“…We read the recent published paper in Translational Andrology and Urology by Wei and colleagues entitled "Efficacy and safety of single port (SP) robotic radical prostatectomy and multiport (MP) robotic radical prostatectomy: a systematic review and meta-analysis" (1). They carried out a meta-analysis to make the comparison of single port and multiport robot radical prostatectomy in terms of efficacy and safety.…”
