Effects of wrist position on eccentric exercise‐induced muscle damage of the elbow flexors

Abstract: Muscle damage is induced by performing unaccustomed exercise consisting of eccentric (lengthening) contractions and is characterized by symptoms such as delayed onset of muscle soreness (DOMS), prolonged loss of muscle strength and range of motion (ROM), and increased swelling of the exercised muscles, and is indicated by increases in muscle-specific proteins such as creatine kinase (CK) in the blood.
