Abstract:In this paper, the effect of weather routing and ship operations on the extreme vertical bending moment (VBM) in a 6000TEU class large container ship which is operated in North Atlantic Ocean is addressed. A direct time-domain nonlinear response simulation method taking account of the wave-induced vibrations is combined with a voyage simulation based on 10 years of meteorological data in the area. The probability distribution of the ship's operational parameters conditional upon the meteorological conditions i… Show more
“…Iijima et al [3] studied the uncertainty of wave-induced vibrations of large container ships due to ship operation an important aspect that is related to the hydro-elastic response of those structures. Fredriksen et al [4] dealt with hydrodynamic aspects related with a floating bridge, a type of structure that has been attracting much interest in Norway in the last few years.…”

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
