Effects of universal extra dimensions on top-quark electromagnetic interactions

Abstract: Universal extra dimensions, presumably observable at some high-energy scale, would modify lowenergy observables, being particularly relevant for physical processes forbidden at tree level by the Standard Model. We address the Kaluza-Klein contributions from the 5-dimensional Standard Model to the anomalous magnetic moment and to branching ratios of electromagnetic decays of the top quark. In accordance with present bounds on the compactification scale, contributions to both quantities are found to be at least … Show more

“…The generation of the mass terms for zero modes in 5DQED is somewhat subtle. The problem has been addressed from two different, but equivalent, perspectives [7,20,21]. In one of these approaches, we start from the fact that QED is embedded in the electroweak theory and then we generate the mass of the zero mode via the Higgs mechanism [7,21].…”

“…A comprehensive analysis on the matter is given in Refs. [7,20,21], so we restrict ourselves to present those results that are needed four our purposes. In the case of only one extra dimension there are no physical scalar fields.…”

“…Detailed discussions on the role of the EHM in the Standard Model in universal extra dimensions and its associated KK theory can be found in Refs. [58,70]. Phenomenological investigations on Higgs physics in this extra-dimensional context have been carried out as well [53,[71][72][73][74][75].…”
