Effects of TVSR process on the dimensional stability and residual stress of 7075 aluminum alloy parts

Abstract: Residual stress generated during the blank forming and machining process significantly influences the dimensional stability of the mechanical parts. The equivalent bending stiffness and thermal vibration stress relief (TVSR) are two factors that affect the deformation of thin-walled workpiece. To increase the machining accuracy, on the one hand, increase the equivalent bending stiffness in manufacturing, and on the other hand, usually conduct the stress relief process to reduce the residual stress in manufactu… Show more

“…With the increasing demand for cold-rolled wide and thin strip steel, the quality requirements for flatness have improved 1 . The roll straightening process plays a key role in improving the quality and efficiency of cold-rolled wide and thin strip steel; this process can reduce the flatness defects and large residual stress of cold-rolled wide and thin strip steel and reduce the generation of defects and waste resources in subsequent processing and use processes 2 4 .…”

“…With the increasing demand for cold-rolled wide and thin strip steel, the quality requirements for flatness have improved [1]. The roll straightening process plays a key role in improving the quality and efficiency of cold-rolled wide and thin strip steel; this process can reduce the flatness defects and large residual stress of cold-rolled wide and thin strip steel and reduce the generation of defects and waste resources in subsequent processing and use processes [2][3][4]. In the metal plate and strip production process, residual stress has been an important factor in restricting the development of plates and strips to thin and wide specification products and is also the main cause of various defects in plates and strips.…”

“…In the manufacturing process, the thermal gradients or uneven deformation of workpiece will lead to the generation of residual stress, which will cause unwanted distortion and deteriorate dimensional accuracy. [1][2][3][4] As an important form of material processing, rolling is also troubled by residual stress. [5][6][7] For the hot rolling of strip, the flatness problem will come out when the internal residual stress exceeds the critical value.…”
