“…was improved after trunk girdling at the pit-hardening stage (Agusti et al, 1998;Day and DeJong, 1990). In an extensive trial in Río Negro and Neuqu en Upper Valley, Argentina, girdling pear (Pyrus communis) trees increased yield compared with the ungirdled control in two seasons (Raffo et al, 2011). Vine girdling in table grapes (Vitis vinifera) increased berry and cluster weight (Fallahi et al, 2017;Reynolds and de Savigny, 2004) but decreased soluble solids concentration and titratable acidity (Reynolds and de Savigny, 2004).…”

“…These results are in harmony with those found by Khattab et al (2003) who indicated second to the fourth year from planting, the trees yielded more fruits than those regulated by pruning only. In addition, Raffo et al (2011) on pear trees, Poniedzialek et al (2001) on apple trees and Baljit Kumar and Harminder Singh (2008) on peach trees proved that all the used girdling treatments significantly increased fruit number, fruit weight and fruit yield. Moreover, Girish Sharma and Ananda (2004) and Moneruzzaman et al (2011) on apple trees observed that, the application of GA 3 at 50 mg/L increased fruit number, weight and yield, however, spraying with 20 mg/L GA 3 increased the number of buds and fruit setting and reduced bud dropping before anthesis.…”
