Effects of Transfer Energy Capacitive and Resistive On Musculoskeletal Pain: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Abstract: The use of transfer energy capacitive and resistive (TECAR) therapy to treat musculoskeletal pain has not been clearly established. Hence, this study was conducted to combine the available results. We searched the main databases, including PubMed (January 1950), Web of Knowledge (January 1945), Scopus (January 1980), and ProQuest (January 1983) until December 2021, to find the related studies. Only those studies were included that assessed the pain in participants who received TECAR therapy and compared it wit… Show more

“…Tecar (transfer energy capacitive and resistive) therapy has recently been the subject of studies investigating its effectiveness in the rehabilitation of various musculoskeletal conditions [160,161]. This technology utilizes high-frequency electromagnetic waves ranging from 0.3 to 1.2 MHz, aimed at reducing spasms and contractions induced by muscle activity, enhancing blood circulation in the treated tissue, and promoting muscle oxygenation by increasing haemoglobin [160]. As a result, Tecar therapy could increase tissue healing and pain alleviation [160].…”

In a cadaveric study, low-power applications generated a minimal thermal effect but a significant current flow, while high-power capacitive and resistive applications demonstrated a substantial increase in superficial temperature, affecting superficial, middle, and deep temperatures, along with greater current flow [161].…”

“…We used the modified Jadad tool, a checklist that evaluated clinical trial studies [9]. Briefly, Jadad consists of eight questions in five domains (e.i., description of randomization, methods used to generate the sequence of randomization, blinding, method of blinding, description of withdrawals, and dropouts) that scored separately.…”

“…P roviding suitable environmental conditions, especially in high-risk groups, including children, women, the elderly [1][2][3][4], and patients with life-threatening diseases, is one of the most important duties of the medical team [5][6][7][8][9][10]. Meanwhile, premature infants and their mothers are among the most critical groups receiving medical care [1][2][3].…”
