Effects of Thermally Assisted Warm Laser Shock Processing on the Microstructure and Fatigue Property of IN718 Superalloy

Abstract: The effects of laser shock processing (LSP) and warm laser shock processing (WLSP) on the microstructure of surface hardening layer and high-cycle fatigue performance at room temperature and high temperature (600 °C) of IN718 alloy were investigated. It has been revealed that the grain refined hardening layer with greater residual compression stresses, higher fraction of coincidence site lattice (CSL) boundaries and dislocation densities was formed in WLSP-treated alloy than in LSP-treated alloys. Moreover, mi… Show more

“…Anwen Zhang et al and Dawei Han et al [9,10] analyzed correlation between heat treatment, precipitation behavior, grain growth, microhardness and tensile properties of Ni-based superalloys IN718 and M718. Yang Liu et al and K D Ramkumar et al [11,12] analyzed interdependency of grain refinement, deleterious phases, residual stress and fatigue properties of IN718 superalloy on processing parameters by warm laser shock processing and multipass gas tungsten arc welding with filler wires. Yan Guo et [13][14][15][16] analyzed correlation between heat treatment, inter-and intra-granular precipitation behavior, grain growth as well as mechanical properties of Ni-based superalloys Inconel 617, K417G and Hastelloy C-276.…”
