Effects of the surface of solar-light photocatalytic activity of Ag-doped TiO2 nanohybrid material prepared with a novel approach

Abstract: Surface modi cation with a nanomaterial has been con rmed to be an effective strategy to enhance the visible-light photodegradation e ciency of titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO 2 -NPs). In this regard, we used silver as an additive into TiO2-NPs to improve their photodegradation activity under visible light irradiation. Herein, a novel and eco-friendly process was developed to prepare the Ag-doped TiO 2 nanohybrid and named as photon-induced method (PIM). The XRD technique showed that the prepared Ag-doped … Show more

“…In summary, except for CePc 2 , the spectra exhibited a red-shift phenomenon, which also meant that the distance between the ground state and the excited state decreased, the excitation energy of the nanohybrid system was reduced, and the wavelength increased. The ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) absorption spectra revealed a reduction in the energy bandgap to enhance the visible-light absorption during surface modification [63]. LnPc 2 is easily oxidized by the presence of electron-donating groups when it develops in lanthanides [30,32,33].…”

“…Another reason that the valence band top would extend upwards, leading to the appearance of a band tail, would also be conducive to the migration of electron-hole pairs when new electronic states by the emergence of continuously reduced Ti 3+ and W 5+ are induced to appear at the lowest point of the conduction band. 25 Another attempt, named as morphological control, to form certain specific appearances, such as nanoparticles, 26 nanoflowers, 27 nanorods 28 and nanofibers, 29 would be further beneficial to improve the photocatalytic performance. 30 Among them, the three-dimensional (3D) pine needle shape has unique advantages, such as excellent aspect ratio and increased specific surface area, which can provide more active sites and/ or pathways for efficient electron/ion transfer.…”
