“…Moreover, Bacillus probiotics could improve digestive function by biosynthesis of vitamins and coenzymes, essential amino acids and fatty acids (Ray, Ghosh, & Ringø, ); by increasing nutrient availability for absorption in GI tracts; and by acting as a supplementary nutrient source (Castex et al, ). Despite no significant ( p < .05) difference observed between microencapsulated and freeze‐dried administrated shrimp in the present study, alginate, a main component of semipermeable encapsulation matrix, may play a role, at least in part, in improvement of growth performance and survival as suggested by Santos et al ().…”

“…Therefore, intervention of biofilm formation, attachment and toxin production may be a consequence of probiotic administration in this study supported by the inverse correlation between Bacillus and total cultivable Vibrio counts, and Bacillus and V. harveyi counts in both GI tracts of shrimp and rearing water during a 30‐day probiotic supplementation period and a 10‐day infection trial. Alginate, an immunostimulant in a semipermeable microcapsule membrane, may involve in such a phenomenon through effective enhancement of the innate immune responses, such as increased phagocytic activity, respiratory burst and superoxide dismutase activity, and induction of LvToll2 and LvToll3 gene expression as observed in V. alginolyticus ‐infected whiteleg shrimp following an alginate‐fed administration (Cheng, Liu, Kuo, & Chen, ; Santos et al, ).…”

“…The administration of dietary feed additives, such as medicinal plants, as alternates to antibiotics, has increased in response to recent dramatic growth seen in the aquaculture industry worldwide (Adel et al., 2020; Citarasu, 2010; Ghehdarijani et al., 2016; Saleh, Ismail, Sayed, Zaghloul, & Saleh, 2020; Santos et al., 2019). Furthermore, the increase noticed in the use of these additives is due to the fact that they can be easily prepared, they are cheap, and they have limited undesirable effects on either fish or the environment (Adel, Pourgholam, et al, 2016; Adel, Sakineh Yeganeh, Dadar, Sakai, & Dawood, 2016; Banaee, Sureda, Mirvaghefi, & Rafei, 2011; Van Hai, 2015).…”

“…Based on the results clearly shown that optimum alginate supplementation was at 6 g.kg -1 . Alginate can effectively improve the immune response of shrimps (Yudiati et al, 2016;Santos et al, 2019) and fish including Catfish (Clarias sp) (Isnansetyo et al, 2014). The high immune system will impact the fish's health, more tolerable to the stress and finally will improve the number the Zebrafish survivors.…”
