Abstract: L‐ and D‐ form oligo(lactic acid)s (OLLA and ODLA) grafted α‐cellulose (OLLA‐g‐cellulose and ODLA‐g‐cellulose) were prepared by the graft polycondensation reaction in C6H5CH3 medium at 130°C and 380 mm of mercury pressure. Para‐toluene sulphonic acid (5 wt% of oligo(lactic acid)) was used as a catalyst whereas potassium persulfate (0.01 wt% of oligo(lactic acid)) was used as a co‐catalyst in the graft polycondensation reaction. OLLA and ODLA with a degree of polymerization (DP) 6–7 used in polycondensation rea… Show more

“…The TGA analysis indicated a shift in the onset of the second step of cellulose acetate (pristine CA) from about 273°C to approximately 305°C for the grafted CA‐RO membranes. This suggests a marginal enhancement in the thermal stability of the grafted membranes 35,36 …”

“…The third stage was conducted from 430 to 597°C with weight loss of 65.7% that was assigned to the cleavage of CC backbone of films 82 . In addition, this weight loss is associated with the depolymerization of PVP and to the degradation of the CS 17 . The weight percentage of carbonized residue for films of (PVP/CS/PCA)/(ZnO‐NPs‐0.)…”

“…This is due to their brittle properties. Therefore, they cannot be utilized in packaging applications 16–18 . To overcome this matter, plasticizers are utilized to change the polymer chain interactions, which cause the brittleness of these films 19 .…”
