“…Venkataraman and Sundararajan 7 had observed that the wear resistance in aluminum matrix composites is proportional to the concentration of the SiC. Similarly, for the 6061 alloys, Yu et al 8 found the same trends even in wider environmental temperature, ranging from 25 C to 250 C. The importance of strengthening 6061 alloys by dispersing particles into it to form a MMC is also emphasized by Benal and Shivanand 9 and Ramesh and Safiulla. 10 Some researchers use a process involving plastic deformation, such as hot rolling, to attempt to refine the microstructure of Al-Si alloys for automobile engine application.…”

“…The latter has to do with the development cycle time and the engineering of quality. How a designer determines concentrations of constants in design (nominal system parameters), which can be chosen at the discretion of a designer, changes a product's functional stability under different circumstances of use [8]. Parameter design is called a method to minimize deviation of a product function from an optimal function under different circumstances by changing nominal design constants.…”

“…The hardness of the composites was improved after heat treatment due to the presence of reinforcements in composite, which accelerated the aging kinetics and caused an increase in dislocation density at the surrounding area of reinforcement particles. Benal et al [13] studied the effects of reinforcement with SiC and E-glass fibres on wear properties of Al6061 hybrid composites. Due to the presence of both harder reinforcements and coherent precipitates in the matrix, increased hardness was observed during aging treatment.…”
