Large-area goafs in a gypsum mine tend to collapse after 10 or more years, but the influencing factors are still unclear, and the effects of multiple factors have not been comprehensively considered. In this study, the failure mechanism and collapse mode of the room-pillar goaf structure were analyzed, and the uniaxial compressive strength tests of the pillars under different conditions were carried out in a laboratory. The influences of water, temperature, and time on the strength of the gypsum rock were considered. These three factors weakened the gypsum rock in different degrees. After 120 days of immersion, water had the greatest effect with a strength-weakening rate of 52.61%. After 20 temperature cycles, changes in temperature had little effect with a strength-weakening rate of 12.60%. After 25 years of aging, the strength-weakening rate of time was 25.13%. These results show how different factors affect the instability and collapse of the goaf structure, which are of great significance for predicting and preventing this from happening.

To study the long-term bearing characteristics of crushed gangue in goaf under water immersion conditions, the creep test of the crushed gangue in the water immersion state was performed by using the self-developed large-scale deformation-seepage test system of crushed rock. The effects of the rock lithology, axial stress, and grain composition on the long-term bearing deformation characteristics and fractal characteristics of crushed gangue under water immersion were analysed. The results show that under certain conditions of axial stress and grain composition of the gangue, a greater uniaxial compressive strength of water-saturated rock corresponds to a greater deformation resistance of the rock, smaller strain and crushing expansion in the corresponding creep stage, and greater fractal dimension increments of the crushed gangue after compression, and the gangue will have more serious crushing. With identical grain compositions and with the increase in the axial stress in the creep stage, the strain increases, the crushing expansion decreases, the fractal dimension increments of the crushed gangue after compression increase, and the gangue will have more serious crushing. Under identical axial stress conditions, when the Talbol power index n is 0.5, the differentials of the strain and crushing expansion for the crushed sandstone sample in the creep stage are minimal. When n is 0.3 or 0.7, these quantities are basically equal. With the increase in the Talbol power index, the fractal dimension increments of the crushed sandstone sample during compression gradually increase, and the crushed sandstone sample will have more serious crushing.

To accelerate the resource utilization of coal gangue and meet the strategic requirements of carbon neutralization, alkali-activated, slag-cemented coal gangue is applied in the preparation of solid waste-based road stabilization materials. Here, the cementation characteristics and microstructure characteristics of alkali-activated, slag-cemented coal gangue road stabilization materials are studied using the alkali equivalent and coal gangue aggregate ratio as experimental variables. The results show that with the increase in alkali equivalent from 1% to 7%, the unconfined compressive strength of the alkali-activated coal gangue road stabilization material initially increases and then decreases, with 3% being the optimal group in terms of stabilization, the aggregate ratio of coal gangue increases from 70% to 85%, and the 7-day unconfined compressive strength of the stabilized material decreases approximately linearly from 8.16 to 1.68 MPa. At the same time, the porosity gradually increases but still meets the requirements of the specification. With the increase in hydration time, a large number of hydration products are formed in the alkali slag cementation system, and they are closely attached to the surface of and interweave with the coal gangue to fill the pores, resulting in the alkali slag slurry and coal gangue being brought closer together.
