Effects of Recirculation Parameter on Leachate from Fresh Municipal Solid Waste

Abstract: Effects of recirculation leachate quality, hydraulic load and frequency on leachate from fresh municipal refuse were investigated in a bench-scale experiment. Recirculation hydraulic load and frequency can affect quality of lechate from fresh refuse. It is testified that the lower COD concentration of leachate re-circulated into the fresh refuse landfill layer contributed to the improvement of leachate quality in the refuse landfill layer. Higher hydraulic-load results in lower pH. Higher recirculation frequen… Show more

“…Although some progress has been made towards the source-separated collection of MSW in China, its status in China pales in comparison to that of some industrialized countries such as Germany and Japan, which have achieved remarkable results in MSW management and circular economy Vehlow, 1996). Currently, most parts of China still use mixed collection methods (Sun et al, 2009) and landfill is still the main disposal method (Du et al, 2006).…”

“…The main benefit of the new transfer station is the reduction in transportation costs. Indeed, there is saving on the consumption of the fuel and as such, the cost of the garbage transport is minimized (Sun et al, 2009). The transfer station offers citizens facilities for average are located 20 km away from the center of the city.…”
