Effects of radiation emitted from mobile phones on short- term heart rate variability parameters

Abstract

ÖZETAmaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı; cep telefonlarından (CT) yayılan radyasyonun, otonom sinir sisteminin (OSS) girişimsiz bir göstergesi olarak kabul edilen, kalp hızı değişkenliği (KHD) parametreleri üzerindeki etkilerini, bu alanda daha önce yapılan çalışmalardaki eksiklikleri dikkate alarak incelemektir. Yöntemler: Bu amaçla, 30 genç ve sağlıklı deneğin katıldığı randomize kontrollü bir çalışma gerçekleştirilmiştir. Üç periyot şeklinde düzenlenen deney sırasında, CT deneklerin sağ kulağına bir bone vasıtası ile tutturulmuş durumda iken, elektrokardiyogram (EKG) ve solunum sinyalleri kaydedilmiştir. Denekler içerisinden rastgele olarak seçilen 10 tanesi; üç deney periyodunun ikincisinde (Deney Grubu 1), 10 tanesi üçüncüsün-de (Deney Grubu 2) CT'den yayılan maksimum güçlü radyasyona maruz bırakılmıştır. Kontrol grubunda CT kapalı tutulmuştur. Hesaplanan kısa dönem KHD parametrelerine, tekrarlı varyans analizi ve çoklu karşılaştırma testleri uygulanmıştır. Bulgular: Tekrarlı varyans analizi sonucuna göre; gruplar arası değişkenliğin önemli olmadığı fakat deney periyotları arasında bazı parametrelerde anlamlı farklar olduğu ve bu farkların gruplara göre değişik periyotlarda yer aldığı görülmüştür. Çoklu karşılaştırma testleri sonucunda; CT'den yayılan maksimum güçlü radyasyon sebebi ile kalp atım periyotları ve HF gücünde anlamlı farklar bulunmuştur. Sonuç: CT'den yayılan maksimum güçlü radyasyon, genç ve sağlıklı bireylerin KHD'lerinde parasempatik otonom aktivite artışından kaynaklanan değişimlere sebep olabilir. Fakat bu değişimler günlük aktiviteler (heyecanlanma, sıkılma, ayağa kalkma vb.) sırasında görülebilecek KHD deği-şimleri ile benzer seviyededir. Methods: A randomized controlled study has been designed and utilized with 30 young and healthy volunteers. During the experiment that had three periods, the electrocardiogram (ECG) and respiration signals were recorded and MP was attached to subjects' right ear with a bone. Ten subjects selected randomly were exposed to high -level radiation during the second period (Experimental Group 1). Ten of others were exposed during the third period with maximum level radiation (Experimental Group 2). Ten records were also made while MP was closed as a control. Short -term HRV parameters were obtained and repeated measures ANOVA and suitable post-hoc tests applied to the results.
