Effects of progesterone nanoparticles on the sperm capacitation and acrosome reaction in asthenozoospermia men

Abstract: Low motility is one of the causes of male infertility. In this study, the effects of progesterone solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) on sperm capacitation, acrosome reaction, oxidative stress and expression of SPACA1 and MAPK way genes were investigated. Progesterone SLNs were synthesized using the solvent emulsification evaporation method. Twenty asthenozoospermia samples were selected, and sperm and acrosome membrane integrity, acrosome reaction, sperm motility, viability, total antioxidant capacity (TAC), tot… Show more

“…It has been known that the progesterone hormone as a NPs increases the acrosome integrity, sperm capacitation and TAC level, as well as increases the expression of PTK PKA, SPACA1 and P38MAPK genes in the study conducted in asthenospermic humans (Baranizadeh et al 2022).…”

“…As a result, it has been shown to increase acrosomal reaction, sperm capacitation, and motility, as well as enhance the expression of protein kinase A, protein tyrosine kinase, P38MAPK, and SPACA1 genes in intracellular signaling pathways. It appears that progesterone-loaded solid lipid nanoparticles can be considered a significant and potent factor in sperm capacitation and acrosome reaction (Baranizadeh et al, 2022). Fifteen semen samples from asthenospermia cases were pooled and divided into 10 equal parts.…”

“…В последние десятилетия роль прогестерона как важного модулятора мужской эндокринной системы становится все более очевидной. К настоящему времени известно, что прогестерон является важным половым стероидным гормоном не только у женщин, но и у мужчин, существенно влияющим на процессы сперматогенеза (включая регуляцию акросомальной реакции сперматозоидов) и стероидогенеза (биосинтеза тестостерона) в клетках Лейдига яичек [4][5][6].…”
