Effects of Polydispyrenia simulii (Microspora; Duboscqiidae) on Development of the Gonads of Simulium pertinax (Diptera; Simuliidae)

Abstract: Microsporidial infections of insects are often chronic and nonlethal in nature. Consequently, epizootics of these pathogens do not usually result in dramatic suppression of host populations.
