Effects of Pipeline Pressure on Diffusion Characteristics of Leaked Natural Gas in Tunnel Space

Abstract: Pipeline transportation has become the main mode of natural gas transportation. Due to inevitable aging, corrosion, and third-party damage, natural gas pipeline leakage accidents occur frequently. Leakage in the tunnel will lead to the leakage and accumulation of natural gas, and the potential explosion risk will threaten the tunnel’s safety. It is significant to elaborate on the diffusion behavior of leaked natural gas in tunnel space for the traceability of leakage points and the formulation of safety techni… Show more

“…However, storage of hydrogen using these technologies is limited by either large-scale use (material saturation) or converting hydrogen to another form, such as ammonia, methanol, or methylcyclohexane, which requires additional processing. 10 There are several challenges in storing and transporting hydrogen in the natural gas pipeline. The biggest concerns are hydrogen leakage from the pipeline and embrittlement of natural gas pipeline materials.…”

“…4−6 Hydrogen gas has a superior energy density by mass but is quite volatile, leading to cost-prohibitive transportation due to its inherent danger. 7 Inspired by water electrolysis, the electroreduction of CO 2 can produce diverse hydrocarbons and intermediates that can be used in transportation and industry. Adopting sustainable pathways to generate fuels and chemicals necessitates detailed analyses of the costs and energy associated with these new processes.…”
