Effects of Pile Configuration on The Behaviour of Jetty Structure Subject to Lateral Loads

Abstract: Piles are structural elements which play an important role to carry loads and transfer them to the ground. In a jetty structure, the critical lateral loads supported by piles are mostly from Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) vessels. This research investigates various pile configuration such as pile diameter (40 cm, 60 cm, and 80 cm), distance between pile (2,5 m and 5 m), and the slope of the pile (straight pile and sloping pile with the ratio 1:8). A series of analysis has been conducted using SAP 2000 program. The a… Show more

“…Then, the total berthing energy of each passenger ship is calculated to be subjected as lateral loads to the jetty pile in SAP2000. The resulting deflection of each pile configuration and berthing load will then be analyzed and compared with the previous study [10].…”

“…The graph in Figure 4 depicts the deflection, allowable deflection, diameter, and berthing force of the pile. As a comparison, the deflection results from previous research by Siagian [10] were used. As shown in the graph below, the results of this study and the comparison have significantly different cross-sectional ratios (D/S) of the jetty pile structure.…”
