Abstract:It has been suggested that the molecular basis of the induction of cellular differentiation might depend upon the provision of materials which stimulate protein synthesis in the reacting cells (Flickinger, '58, '60, '62). One way to test this speculation is to culture explants of undifferentiated embryonic cells in the presence of substrates and cofactors which are necessary for protein synthesis to ascertain if they will stimulate differentiation. The present report deals with experiments in which explants o… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
