Effects of Mixing Ratio of Hybrid Carbonaceous Fillers on Thermal Conductivity and Mechanical Properties of Polypropylene Matrix Composites

Abstract: This study investigated the effects of carbon fibers and graphite flakes on the composite materials’ heat dissipation properties and mechanical strength with various hybrid ratios in the matrix. Carbon fibers and graphite flakes with high thermal conductivity showed efficiency in heat dissipation performance, and mechanical strength was reinforced by carbon fiber. However, the heat dissipation performance and mechanical strength were greatly changed according to the mixing ratio. The optimal filler mixing rati… Show more

“…From Table 1, it is seen that the density of the composites increased with increasing SG and CF weight fractions. This is due to the fact that the density values of carbon fiber (1.8 g/cm 3 ) 23 and synthetic graphite (2.26 g/cm 3 ) are higher than the PPS and PPS−SPS blend.…”

“… Furthermore, we plan to explore the maximum amount of SCF added to balance the formability and comprehensive performance of 3D printed composites. At the same time, the regular effects of SCF content and 3D printing settings on the performance of composites, such as mechanical, , thermal, , and electrical properties, , also have the significance of being studied, compared to traditional forming methods. , The addition of high-content SCFs helps to break through the performance limitations of 3D printed composite products, making them have broad application potential in fields such as aerospace, automobiles, electronic devices, sensors, wearable devices, and so on.…”

“…The study for obtaining composites with excellent properties, which composed of various high-strength fibers as fillers, is not uncommon. 1,2 In particular, glass fiber has been widely used as a kind of strong and tough filler in the field of polymer composites, due to the low production cost and specific gravity, high strength, great chemical resistance and superior insulation properties. 3,4 Moreover, the properties of composites reinforced with fibers are affected by the mechanical properties of polymer matrix, the bearing capacity of fiber, and the interfacial compatibility between the polymer matrix and the fiber.…”
