Effects of Manganese Hydroxychloride on Growth Performance, Antioxidant Capacity, Tibia Parameters and Manganese Deposition of Broilers

Abstract: This study was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation with manganese hydroxychloride (MHC) on production performance, antioxidant capacity, tibial quality, and manganese (Mn) deposition of broilers. A total of 756 one-day-old male Arbor Acres broilers were randomly allotted to 7 treatments of 6 replicates with 18 broilers per replicate. Broilers were fed corn-soybean meal basal diets supplemented of 100 mg/kg Mn as Mn sulfate (MnSO4), or 0, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 mg/kg Mn as MHC for 42 da… Show more

“…54 The recent research on the effects of manganese on broiler blood parameters highlights its significant benefits. Manganese supplementation has been found to enhance hemoglobin levels, 52,53 and boost immune function. 54 These findings underscore the importance of incorporating adequate manganese levels in broiler diets to optimize blood health and overall performance.…”

“…Studies have revealed that Mn supplementation positively influences white blood cell counts, lymphocyte proliferation, and antibody production, thereby enhancing the immune system's ability to combat pathogens. 52,53 Furthermore, Mn has been found to promote the synthesis of immunoglobulin, which contributes to the humoral immune response. 54 The recent research on the effects of manganese on broiler blood parameters highlights its significant benefits.…”

“…According to Salem et al (2001), more than 0.05 mg/l of manganese was present in 58.97% of the water samples taken from Assiut, Egypt. Excessive manganese levels have been linked to water flavor issues (Carter and Sneed, 1996;Sun et al, 2021). Coetzee et al (2000) discovered that manganese levels in poultry drinking water in the Western Cape survey ranged from 27.15 g/L to 2204.7 g/L.…”

“…Noticeably, manganese concentrations are positively associated with the quantity of iron in the groundwater in Scotland (Homoncik et al, 2010;Sun et al, 2021). Manganese levels greater than the SMCL of 0.05 mg/L will result in black flecks or stains, metallic-tasting water, and standing water that appears gray or black (Swistock and Clark, 2012).…”
