Effects of Macronutrients in the Physiological Quality of Soybean Seeds

Abstract: The aim of this work was to correlate macronutrient content of soybean seeds to physiological quality of different cultivars. The work was developed in the Federal University of Pelotas, in the facilities of the Seed Science and Technology Graduate Program. The experimental design was randomized blocks in arranged in four replicates. The following soybean cultivars were used: BMX Apolo RR (12 lots), BMX Ativa RR (13 lots), BMX Energia RR (26 lots), BMX Força RR (24 lots), BMX Impacto RR (35 lots), BMX Magna RR… Show more

“…Micronutrients such as iron, zinc, copper, and manganese perform various important functions in plants, animals, and humans. In general, the content of micronutrients in the soybeans tested in the experiment corresponded with values reported by other authors [26,54,58]. e uptake of micronutrients by plants depends on various factors, such as the species and even the cultivar, the stage of plant development, environmental conditions, and agrotechnical procedures [54,59,60].…”

“…In general, the genetic factor did not significantly affect the content of phosphorus and potassium in the soybeans. According to Rigo et al [26], potassium is the most stable nutrient for soybean cultivars.…”

“…The production of soybean seeds of high performance is an expensive task, since it requires high technology by the seed producers, and specific environmental conditions, especially regarding temperature and air relative humidity after the physiological maturity. At this point, seeds are disconnected from the mother plant and await the harvest, being exposed to environmental conditions that can often be unfavorable to their physiological quality, and present great variation between seed production fields (Peske et al, 2012;Szareski et al, 2018b;Rigo et al, 2018).…”

“…The productivity of this crop depends on its genetic potential and on the environmental factors that interfere in the crop development, above all, in the photosynthesis. The photosynthetic process depends on the radiation interception and on the conversion of it in chemical energy, being this dynamic influenced by many biotic and abiotic stresses, that can reduce the foliar area in sensitive growing and development stages (Lopes & Lima, 2015;Nardino et al, 2016;Gehlling et al, 2018;Rigo et al, 2018). Among them, stands out the soil draining unappropriated conditions that can compromise the crop productivity…”
