Effects of kinesiotape on pain, range of motion, and functional status in patients with osteoarthritis: a randomized controlled trial

Abstract: This study aimed to determine the effects of kinesiotape (KT) on pain, range of motion, and functional status in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee. In this randomized controlled trial, patients with knee osteoarthritis, based on American College of Rheumatology criteria, and Kellgren-Lawrence grade 2 or 3 criteria were selected. Visual analogue scale and active range of motion were the primary outcome measures. Timed Up and Go test and 6-min walk test, were the secondary outcome measures. Evaluation was… Show more

“…Charts and chart titles in the online biological literature contain rich explanatory information. If they can be effectively collected, organized, and analyzed, they will not only improve the efficiency of literature reading but also have an important significance in clinical and scientific research [ 6 ]. In recent years, a number of scholars at home and abroad have studied how to build image databases through the online biological literature, e.g., the work of Abolhasani M. In this paper, we introduce a method of automatic identification of 7 species of plankton in Jiaozhou Bay by using mathematical morphological features and Gabor texture features combined with principal component analysis and support vector machine.…”

“…In recent years, a number of scholars at home and abroad have studied how to build image databases through the online biological literature, e.g., the work of Abolhasani M. In this paper, we introduce a method of automatic identification of 7 species of plankton in Jiaozhou Bay by using mathematical morphological features and Gabor texture features combined with principal component analysis and support vector machine. The experimental results show that the dimension reduction recognition based on the principal component analysis model can improve the performance of system identification; its average recognition accuracy reaches 78.5%; based on the image acquisition, image processing, and feature selection aspects for further improvement, marine plankton automatically based on the computer digital image recognition method will provide a new real-time ocean ecological environment monitoring and a fast and efficient detection platform [ 6 ]. Yamawakiet al researched and designed the interface between generic and nongeneric modules and realized a working embedded platform.…”

“…Pain and functional impairment in patients with OA reduce their quality of life ( Baker and McAlindon, 2000 ; Abolhasani et al, 2019 ). It is reported that pain and disability are associated with muscle weakness ( van Baar et al, 1998 ; Villafañe, 2018 ).…”

“…Park et al(2019) examined the effect of Kinesio taping applied to patients with knee OA on TUG and obtained immediate positive results. Abolhasani et al (2019) examined the immediate effect of Kinesio taping applied to quadriceps on mobility in patients with knee OA and obtained significant improvements 1 hour and 72 hours after the application, as seen in the TUG results of the Kinesio taping group compared to the placebo taping group. these investigators concluded that KT taping might affect dynamic balance and mobility by stimulating muscle spindles and mechanoreceptors, increasing proprioceptive sensation, and affecting muscle strength.…”
