Effects of kinesio taping on hemiplegic hand in patients with upper limb post-stroke spasticity: a randomized controlled pilot study

A previous study that involved the application of taping to the upper extremities of stroke patients reported that the spasticity was significantly reduced compared to the control group, which was attributed to the fact that taping induces self-inhibition of hypertonic muscles, as the muscles are continuously elongated [32]. In a study comparing the effects of casting, taping, and stretching after injection of botulinum toxin type A, it was found that casting and taping had a longerlasting effect of reducing spasticity and improving range of motion in the ankle joint than stretching, and this result was explained by the difference in application time [26].…”
