“…Similarly, supplementing the diet with inulin at 5.0 g/kg improved weight gain and SGR of both sexes of Nile tilapia (Ibrahem et al., ). The positive effects of dietary inulin on growth performance were consistent with those reported in juvenile Nile tilapia (Tiengtam et al., ). Dietary supplementation of inulin and FOS was also reported to exert positive effects on growth performance in several species.…”

“…Similar effects of supplementation with either inulin or FOS on the survival rate have previously been demonstrated in Nile tilapia (Ibrahem et al., ) and blunt snot bream (Wu et al., ). Nevertheless, there were no significant increases in survival rate of turbot, beluga, rainbow trout or juvenile Nile tilapia following dietary supplementation with either inulin or FOS (Mahious et al., ; Ortiz et al., ; Reza et al., ; Tiengtam et al., ). Dietary supplementation of inulin or FOS led to increase survival rate of common carp fry (0.55 g body weight), whereas the significant improvement of survival rates was not observed in common carp during later growth phase (13.85 g body weight) (Eshaghzadeh et al., ; Hoseinifar et al., , ).…”

“…Besides, the TC content in the liver was also significantly higher than that in control group, regardless of the A-OKGM level. Similar results were found in studies on Oreochromis niloticus [55] and huso huso [56] after the administration of inulin. Cholesterol biosynthesis is controlled by a feedback mechanism with HMGCR as the key enzyme.…”
