Effects of Interaction between Peer Assessment and Problem-Solving Tendencies on Students’ Learning Achievements and Collaboration in Mobile Technology-Supported Project-Based Learning

Abstract: Project-based learning (PBL) aims to foster students’ problem-solving ability and collaboration by engaging them in completing a project in teams. Researchers have indicated the importance of guiding students to make comparisons and reflection during the process of project-based learning. Therefore, the present research proposed a peer assessment-based PBL (PA-PBL) approach to boost students’ PBL performances. To assess the effectiveness of the proposed approach, a quasi-experiment was conducted for 3 weeks. A… Show more

“…Analysis carried out on several previous studies found that PjBL has an influence on improving 21st century skills through online learning mediation. Some of these findings show that PjBL through online learning can improve students' creative thinking abilities (Chen et al, 2022), students' metacognitive behavior (Yilmaz & Baydas, 2017), and students' problem-solving abilities (Zhang & Hwang, 2023).…”

“…This certainly provides a more interactive, innovative, and certainly collaborative learning experience (Balan et al, 2019;Chang et al, 2020). In line with research by taking a problembased approach, students will be more active in learning, able to solve problems on their own, and can also exchange ideas with classmates to find solutions to problems given by the teacher (Zhang & Hwang, 2023). Learning activities are carried out conventionally, the condition is that students only get information from the teacher or textbooks and most students are required to remember information in the form of answers given by the teacher (L.-F. Luke et al, 2021).…”

“…Problem -Based Learning (PBL) is defined as unstructured problems that are presented as unsolved, so students come up with multiple ideas not only about the cause of the problem but also about how to solve it (Barrow, 2002;Strobel & van Barneveld, 2009;Zhang & Hwang, 2022). PBL focuses on students learning environment in the form of problem-solving with analytical and data skills (Nurtanto et al, 2019).…”
