<p class="Abstract">Due to their better DC bus utilization and easier digital realization, Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) scheme is the most widely used PWM scheme. Also two level inverter is the traditional frequency converter because it has fewer components and is lower complex to control, but on the other hand it generates higher harmonic distortion. This paper presents the realization of novel SVPWM approaches applied to the three phase induction motor drives. Specifically various schemes are based on using more combinations of step operation in each cycle to approximate the reference vector, such as 24 and 48 step operations in each cycle. The basic principle of conventional SVPWM with different modulation index M is presented. The switching sequences of new approaches are described. The modulation signals waveforms, DC bus voltage utilization, De-rated motor torque, standard error of average torque, voltage and current harmonic of new approaches are analyzed by the MATLAB/SIMULINK software. The results confirms that 48 step SVPWM approach is the best compared to other approaches.</p>

Induction motors are one of the most commonly used motor in the industry. For this reason, a fault (electrical or mechanical) inside or outside of the motor can cause the motor to go out of power and even cause the production losses inside the factory. Although there are many studies on single-cage induction motor failures in the literature, double cage motor failures are not a frequent subject of study. Therefore, in this study, it was investigated how the outer cage slot faults in a double cage induction motor affect the motor performance. Analyses were performed using Finite Element Method (FEM). 1, 2, 3 and 4 outer cage broken bars in the rotor slot were investigated. Rotor currents, magnetic vector potential values, magnetic flux distributions, current densities, radial forces and torque-speed graphs of the motor models were obtained and compared for both healthy and failure motors. The results show that as the number of broken bar in the rotor increased, a significant reduction was observed in all three torque (starting, maximum and nominal) values. It has been observed that the starting torque decreased by 13.77% for the 4 broken outer cage rotor bars motor according to the healthy motor.

The present paper aims to determine a robust sensor fault-tolerant controller based on fuzzy logic using a robust adaptive super-twisting observer for the control of an induction machine and an inverter set by a state estimation method. The speed sensor is considered in the present case. The modular structure of the fault-tolerant control (FTC) scheme allows integrating this sensor within the existing closed-loop system, and the observer can therefore be designed independently. This article presents a new method to develop a fuzzy decision system that provides faulttolerant control. This paper also aims at detecting the mechanical speed sensor faults. The proposed approach allows the automatic reconfiguration of the system in the event of a speed sensor failure. The defective fuzzy detection system makes a transition between the speed sensor and the robust observer based on a super-twisting algorithm that ensures the continuity and stability of the system; the fuzzy detection and transition system is required to be robust to parametric variations, and must be fast enough in order to locate the defect and eventually make a transition in the event of a fault. The output of the fuzzy block is injected into the control block to ensure super-twisting speed regulation. The performance of the proposed strategy also the robustness against parameter variation are assessed by simulation thanks to Matlab/Simulink software.
