Effects of IGF2BP2, KCNQ1 and GCKR Polymorphisms on Clinical Outcome in Metastatic Gastric Cancer Treated with EOF Regimen

Abstract: Our results suggest IGF2BP2 and KCNQ1 polymorphisms might be independent predictors of chemotherapeutic response, while GCKR polymorphisms might be independent predictors of survival in MGC patients treated with first-line EOF chemotherapy. “…Its amplification and overexpression in many cancers correlate with cancer progression and predict poor prognosis. Secondly, IGF2BP2 promotes cancer cell survival, proliferation, and migration although the underlying mechanisms remain poorly defined [ 28 , 29 , 39 ]. Thirdly, in vitro and in vivo studies have provided solid evidence that IGF2BP2 is a dominant factor in the self-renewal of CSCs [ 17 ].…”

“…Alterations in the IGF2BP2 gene may have potential prognostic value in gastrointestinal cancer. In gastric cancer patients treated by first-line combinational therapy with epirubicin, oxaliplatin, and 5-fluorouracil, IGF2BP2 polymorphisms rs4402960 and rs6769511 are less common in patients with disease progression than in those with controlled disease [ 28 ]. Whether these nucleotide changes improve the response of gastric cancer patients to chemotherapies remains to be confirmed in future studies.…”
